6.2.08 - Shedding the past
As many of you know, Xasis has been my pet project for 12 years now. It started off as some recordings with my friend Chris Mangone in high school and eventually evolved into an acoustic project with my Dreaded Silence bandmates Ken Gillis and Mike Orifice helping on vocals and guitar, respectively. Over the last year, I've started playing the material I wrote for Xasis at open mics, writing new songs, and gaining more confidence in my voice and ability.
That being said, I've decided to forgo the Xasis banner and band concept and simply perform under my own name, playing my own songs, and some covers I dig. I'm working on an EP with my good friend and DS bandmate Dana Chisholm that I hope to share with the world at some point in the next couple of months. In the meantime, check out the current material (including the stuff that Ken and Mike performed on) and come check out a show - I've got two currently scheduled.
5.7.08 -The return of Xasis
After roughly 16 months of inactivity, Xasis has started anew. I've finally gained confidence in my voice to the extent that I'm comfortable performing solo in front of people, so that's how the project will continue. Many thanks to Ken and Mike, who were kind enough to lend me a hand in both performing live and with recording, finally fulfilling my dream of playing these songs live. However, I want to work at my own pace, secure in my own commitment to the words and music I write.
I've been fueled in great part by the incredibly kind folks who hit Firefly's in Framingham, MA weekly for their Open Mic nights, and also by my fantastic girlfriend Amber, who not only tolerates my passion, but inspires me daily. One result of this has been the new track "Starswept", which I recorded on April 30th with the help of my Dreaded Silence bandmate Dana Chisholm. Dana, in addition to producing, also laid down some tasty fretless bass. So, if you're interested at my first recorded vocal effort in years, go check out the Xasis profile over on Myspace and let me know what you think. I'm looking to see if I can get a few more tracks recorded to throw an EP (check it out on the left) together by the fall with Dana's help.
So, in closing, thanks for the support...I think the future may be bright for once!
